Post with 2 notes
Pain. What is pain? It’s the pinch of a bee sting, the cry of an unattended child in the night, the blood that pours from so many bodies daily that it’s just commonly accepted; no matter where you are, innocent and guilty blood will be shed, weather they’re your best friend, or a man millions of miles away. This is all pain, but what really cuts us? What really grips our souls and pulls us down to a point where we don’t think we’ll ever escape? It’s emotional pain; a loved-one dying, a boyfriend leaving, a child’s innocence being taken without their consent, and so much more. I’ve experienced all of these, but I don’t ask for your pity, I ask you sit, and listen to me, listen to me give credit to pain and her stead-fast grip, and then wrench it out of her hands to bring glory to the hope that saved my life. I remember when pain held my hand, she walked with me, led me in my actions and emotions. She cuddled with me at night while I wept over my lost soul, remembering the boy that so steadily clawed at my heart, remembering the addicting, numb feeling the alcohol fed me, going over the people I’ve caused this kind of pain to, recalling my lose of innocence at such a young age. Must I go on? I am not the only one who’s experienced pain’s sultry kiss. We all have, in some way or another, whether we chose to admit it or not. But where so many pain-consumed souls go wrong…is when they seek a way out. Lets list how I, personally, have dealt with my pain: Alcohol, thoughts of suicide, pulling my hair out, screaming, crying, denying God, allowing sexual impurity to take over my life and lead me just so I could feel what I thought was love was, throwing things, and killing the people I love the most with my words. This is a small list of what I’ve done. But the point is, where did all of this lead me?- You’d be correct if you said right back into pain’s tear soaked bed. How could we not realize that the hangover alcohol causes, not to our flesh, but in our souls, is pain’s dance? Or the feeling we achieve from being “loved,” sexually by another person out of wed-lock, is pain’s mask, decorated with glitter, appealing to the eye, and oh-so-tempting to the body. All of these things so easily introduce you to a temporary solution for our pain., making us believe she’s left our hearts for good, but through these so-called “solutions,” pain’s thick, tossing waters are only turned stagnant. Awaiting for the perfect time to rise and toss our boats into a rock, and be shipwrecked and broken for one last, and final time- “the eternal gnashing of teeth.” See, pain is cancer, it’s not like cancer, it IS a form of cancer. It can control you, but it can also go into a benign state where it’s still within you, but it’s just taking a nap. All of these common ways to rid ourselves of pain will only awaken the giant, to where pain IS your life. But wait, I have a secret, this secret is one of the two reasons I live, which are: 1.To be loved by God Romans 8:38-39 says “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, not anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” and 2.(This is the secret) To tell the world of the good news of God’s grace. Mark 16:15- “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” Because of number 2, I am compelled to speak of the solution to pain. The truth that is staring all of creation in the face, to the point where it’s sickening because so few will, honestly, accept it. John 6:27 says: “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you,” (refering to Jesus) pay attention to the word “work,” it goes on to say in John 6:29 “Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”(again, Jesus). But, that’s not the full extent of it, a little side note, if this were taken out of context, the person doing so would be severely disappointed when they get to judgement day, for this reason: James 2:19 says “You believe that there is one God, Good! Even the demons believe that- and shudder.” So obviously, the cure to your pain isn’t just to believe in God, because Satan’s servents do that already, and trust me, they’re not happy beings. James goes on to say “You see that a person is justified by what he does, and not by faith alone.”-James 2:24. Wait, you mean, you can’t just believe in God and that will fix everything? NO. Of course not! That’s like…believing in a million dollars, and being justified that if you believe, you will receive. No! You have to work for it, because honestly there’s a small chance you’re going to win the lottery, (my apologies for crushing some dreams). To clarify any misunderstandings, God’s grace is free, you don’t have to earn it, because trying to would be pointless, simply because God is perfect, we’re sinners, and we don’t deserve what He has to offer, that’s why it’s called GRACE. What I’m trying to say is you need to communicate with God what your needs are. Tell Him about the pain that has taken residency in your heart and “If you believe you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”- Matthew 21:22 but remember: “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”- James 4:3. Finally, I must confess, following Jesus doesn’t mean your life will be simple and easy. It just means that you will know what to do when you feel pain, or when you feel tempted, which is a whole other story. One might assume it’s pointless commiting yourself to God because your life won’t go the way you want it to, but, once you do commit yourself to Him, you’ll find an unsurpassable peace in your heart, that no matter what the world throws at you, you will always have joy, because your sins are forgiven by the blood that was spilt on the cross for you and I. My purpose for writing this is not to turn someone into a Christian, that’s the last thing I want. The label “Christian,” almost always goes hand in hand with the label “hypocrit.” My purpose is to show you, my dear reader, how my pain was concored, and how yours can be too. To close:
Mark 2:17- “On hearing this, Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
